Thank you Portage Public Library for inviting us to the Teen Activity Center Open House!

We had a great time at The Portage Public Library Teen Activity Center Open House on October 17, 2013

We talked with several visitors to the center.  A couple families came to the Center together to check it out and other teens came on their own.  Dawn Foster had Pizza and Pop for the kids and more than a few people came to visit the PFSP Display table.  It was refreshing to speak with teens who are excited about having a Skate Park built in Portage.  They enjoy the library space and several said ‘we need more safe places for teens to just hangout in Portage.’

We talked with a couple teens who have an interest in Art and talked about ways they might be able to get involved with helping on our Portage Family Skate Park Project.  A married couple that was passing through the Teen area stopped to tell us they had a son in college now who used to love skateboarding. They are glad to see us moving forward successfully with our Skate Park Project.  Another young person said she thinks the location of the Skate Park is great because there are so many families with children living in that area.  It’s great to hear youth supporting youth and their variety of interests and it’s refreshing to hear them begin to think about what skills they have to offer in order to help make the Skate Park become a reality!
