As some of you may or may not know, I spent a great deal of my youth growing up in the city of Portage, Wisconsin. I was an avid skateboarder. This was a daily year round passion of mine as it is for many others today.

One of the many obstacles I endured was having a place too safely, and respectfully express this passion. Skateboarding on public streets or on private property would result in consciences no child should have to face for actively participating in a sport. What once was regarded as a crime is now a growing sport at all levels of competition. Skateboarding teaches many great life lessons including, but not limited to: Sportsmanship, Determination, Respect, Dedication and many others.

The city of Portage is now on a fundraising mission to give the Skaters of their community a facility to enjoy and progress in their sport. It is because of my personal interest in this community we ask you to take part by sponsoring our 3rd Annual Skateboard Levee Cruise.

EVERY dollar counts! No matter your level of participation. Whether you would like to be a corporate sponsor, or make a simple contribution.  Kyle Little is heading up this effort welcomes any questions or concerns you may have.

Thank you for your time and consideration,

Kyle Little

President of the PFSP

Want to sponsor the event please email us at Portageskatepark@gmail.com or call Kyle at 608.697.5960608.697.5960. for more details.

Is my (grand)child old enough to skateboard?

Is my (grand)child old enough to skateboard?

I remember wondering this when my first grandson came home with skateboarding gear after visiting an uncle.  To me, skateboarding seemed risky and dangerous.  But as I watched him putting on his knee pads and helmet like a pro and say with a smile from ear to ear 'Watch me Grandma!' and sail down the driveway and sidewalk (they have …

Another unique but successful Fund-raiser.

Another unique but successful Fund-raiser.

Portage Family Skatepark Project pulls off another unique but successful Fund-raiser with a “Catch the Leprechaun” theme. Several local businesses sold tags with clues to “catch the Leprechaun for prizes. Word spread throughout town pretty quickly. A few tags were sold and by St. Patrick’s Day everybody who cared was waiting to catch the Leprechaun. The day of St. Patrick’s …
