PFSP Brats at the Portage Flea Market Aug 8th
It was a fun filled Saturday at the Columbia County Fairgrounds where the Portage Family Skatepark Project volunteers sold brats and other food and refreshments as a part of the Portage Citywide Flea Market. There was a lot going on Saturday besides the Flea Market. There was softball being played at the ball diamonds, The Kiwanis held their Ride to Read event, and there was even a Family reunion being held in one of the Fairground buildings. The Portage Family Skatepark Project felt lucky to be in the midst of all these great activities because they align with our organizations values of building stronger families and promoting an active lifestyle.
The Flea Market had a variety of vendors many of whom expressed their happiness to see us back. We were even more exited to tell them and other visitors about the latest progress being made in our efforts to get a Skatepark built in Portage. We also spread the word about our upcoming fundraising events including two more Brat Hut events at Pierce’s, Portage’s first ever Corn Boil at Willies Weenie Wagon, and the PFSP Levee Cruise. There is still a lot of time left this summer to get out and enjoy good times, good food, and help raise funds for the first real Skatepark Portage has ever seen.
Thank you to our dedicated volunteers Debbie, Brian, and Andrew who worked the event. Together they raised another $150 plus for the Portage Family Skatepark Project. The Project would also like to thank our friend Cory Otto for assisting us with the use of his truck for transporting our awesome grill to and from the Fairgrounds. We will be back at the Columbia Co. Fairgrounds for the last Portage Flea Market on Saturday September 5th. We hope to see you there as well!
