Blarney’s Chili Cook off! A Close Competition!
It was a cool breezy Sunday morning but the Blarney Stone was a warming up with excitement for Kevin’s annual Chili Cook off. This year was a quieter occasion than years before but the competition wasn’t any less fierce. With only three entrees in the competition, every contestant felt they had a chance to win First place. Around 11:30 the judges gathered at the testing table. Lots of slurping, hums, and discussion was heard until around noon, when a decision was finally made. First place this year went to Mindi Miller, a first time participant and surprised winner. Kevin Malone, the champion from last year’s Cook off took second place, while Bob Viking took a very gracious third place.
The Chili was then available for Blarney patrons for a donation to the charity of the day. This year, as was for the past two was donated to the Portage Family Skatepark Project, raising a total of $300 for future additions to the Park. We at the PFSP are very thankful to Kevin Malone for his committed support to our project. We look forward to more fun events with The Blarney Stone in the future.
